JUMP IN THE RIVER

I JUMP IN THE RIVER

I jump in the river - The river of time
The water flows from left to right
Men in the river are part of mine
Men of the family - From all different times
All in together – all in a line
Standing knee deep in the river of time

I see all the fathers - And their sons
Who look both ways as the water runs
They smile to each other – both fathers and brothers
Looking behind and ahead to the others
Men of the family – men of their times
Enjoying the chance – to all be in line
They stand in the water - in the river of time

These men are my fathers, brothers and sons
They stand in the river where the water runs
With smiles and laughter to see each other
In times now together - in times yet to come
Sons on the right and fathers left
Apart from each other yet with all the rest
In the wondrous waters – in the river of time

Three faces clear are standing close
The far distant ones are far and remote
But knowing the waters pass over time
And smiles and fun are the same as mine
It gives you a sense – that we’re all in the river
From those who are here and those who’ll come after
Enjoying the waters – in the river of time

If I am called up to join them in heaven
The fathers and sons will welcome me in.
To stand in the water – and meet generations
To start up the laughter - and smile and grin
To look at the past and those that come after
To smile at each other and join in the fun
To jump in the river – with fathers and brothers
In the wondrous waters – The river of time
